For this weeks #makeupmonday I'm featuring a gold smokey eye and light pink lips. Gold makeup looks best if you have blue eyes or if your skin tone is more warm.

Check out miss "K" and her sexy lingerie pictures! We tried out 2 new sets for her shoot. The first new set is the silver sequence backdrop and the 2nd one is the all white sheer drapes set up. Loved the results of both!

Check out Miss "L" and her stunning boudoir session. She brought as awesome cowgirl outfit that I just loved. We stayed with red, black, and white for the session. We also decided to shoot some classy nude images with the large fur blanket in the studio.

When Miss J asked if she could bring her husband's car for her boudoir photo shoot I wasn't sure what to expect. The car was awesome to photograph. Since the studio is located in downtown Salt Lake City near the Library and Trax we can get people coming up to us during a shoot if we want to be outside. So, we drove on I-80 West towards the lake and found a private spot just off the freeway to shoot the car. It's great when you can get both a studio look and some pics outside.

When you're booking a session for boudoir photos, let us take care of the lighting, the camera and the angles. You just need to focus on what you like to wear. 

Here's a series of boudoir outfit recommendations that will help make the session more than memorable.

MAKEUP - Makeup can look different in the finished photos than it does in your mirror. Ask us what and how much makeup to wear. The makeup artist has a wide selection of colors available. A deep shade of red may provide the look you want while a lighter shade won't.

ACCESSORIES - Load up your accessories. Never mind that you may wind up bring a suitcase of necklaces, scarves chokers, garter belts, rings and so on. Sometimes the right accessory placed at exactly the right spot can turn a so-so photo into something that almost ignites the paper the image is printed on. 

SHOES - Bring shoes. Bring all kinds of shoes. Get a set of spike stilettos too. You're not going to be walking around in them. You might stand, but if you have to move, take them off, move and put them on again. Really high heels cause your calves to tense which provides definition in the pictures. There's a reason pin-up girls are often seen in stilettos or standing on the balls of their feet. It makes those legs look so sexy.

LINGERIE - Lingerie is a must. Find something you like. This is important. If you like it, that's going to show in the pictures. If you don't like it, you'll have to work much harder to make the images be worthwhile. Thigh high stockings with a garter belt might sound corny, but they are a mainstay in this kind of photography. Choose a few different colors, but black and white are almost can't-go-wrong colors.

Check out Miss "G" and her stunning boudoir photos shot in the downtown Salt Lake City boudoir studio. I just loved her purple outfit from Victoria's Secret. She drove all the way from Rock Springs Wyoming because she said there are no Rock Springs Wyoming boudoir photographer's in the area. Crazy! I've had clients drive from Wyoming, Idaho, Moab, and Saint George for their boudoir photos. I feel so honor that these clients are willing to drive so far for their boudoir experience.

Check out miss "K" and her beautiful boudoir photo shoot! I love that she brought a black teddy because it's my favorite outfit to shoot on the red tufted headboard. She wanted to stick with natural tones like black, cream, and grey.

When planning for a boudoir photo shoot, it is a difficult task to decide what to wear. Here are some ways to make sure your shoot goes smoothly and you get the sexy photos you want. 

When looking for boudoir outfits, it is a good idea to ask the photographer for ideas, advice or examples. Especially when a photographer is well seasoned, they will be able to offer great tips and advice on what to wear. They have done shoots with many people, amateurs and professionals, and would know details as to what types of materials may not photograph well, what styles flatter certain figures and how many looks can be shot within your time frame. It is helpful to collaborate with the photographer so the photos come out as expected. If the photographer has one vision in mind and it strongly contrasts with your ideas, the photos may not turn out as you had hoped. Communication is key. 

Along with talking with the photographer, the internet is an amazing resource. The internet is a great place to look for outfit ideas. You may have things lying around your home that you never thought could be incorporated into your boudoir outfit. A pair of earrings, cuff or even simple black heels can transform a simple piece of lingerie into an interesting outfit. It's important to have an open mind and be creative. 

Lastly, and most importantly, boudoir is all about being sexy. Boudoir usually involves a sensual feeling mixed with mystery. In order to express that sexiness that boudoir requires, you will have to be comfortable. Although it may be tempting to go out and buy new outfits for your shoot, it's more important that you wear pieces that you know you are comfortable in. Pick the lingerie that you love wearing that you feel sexy in. Lingerie that doesn't fit quite right that requires adjusting every couple of seconds will only distract you.

Don't try to conform to someone else's idea of sexy. Although you may want to use the internet to get ideas, you don't want to attempt to recreate something exactly; it will never turn out exactly how you want. It's important to prepare ideas and then go with the flow. If you feel uncomfortable or you don't feel sexy, it will show in your photos. You want to exude sexiness and that means you have to wear something that you know you look good in.

Check out Miss "P" and her stunning boudoir photo shoot we did 2 weeks ago! She picked a hot pink lip color to go with her hot pink garter slip. I love the warm tones on her skin - pink, champagne, white, cream. Those colors look great on someone with fair skin and blonde hair.

Check out Miss "M" and her bright blonde hair and fair skin! She is so tall that I had to use a step stool or box the entire time I was shooting. She told me that her and her husband will be moving to Brazil in the next month and NOW was the time to do a boudoir session before they left.

Check out miss "K" and her stunning boudoir photos! She did her photo shoot as a father's day gift and drove all the way from Moab to do a shoot at our studio. My favorite outfit was her pink bra and pantie set that she said was only $8 for the entire set!!

I really didn't know what I wanted and so I let her decide for me and I LOVED the colors and styles she picked. They were perfect. Someone asked me if a babydoll is a good outfit to wear for a boudoir photo shoot. Well, it depends on the type of babydoll. If it has a good push up bra and sheer material at the bottom then it can work. However, all that extra material on the bottom can make you look wider then you really are. I'm not a fan of the plain satin slip with no cup at the top. So, for today's what to wear wednesday I'm featuring a dark purple baby doll with a sheer bottom. In my opinion this outfit worked.

Miss "MA" is my type of girl! She loves the colors black and red. She requested a red lip to go with her outfits and also borrowed a black leather vest I have in the dressing room.

So I recently got this question in my email, "This is for my husband and he really only likes panties, primarily G-strings, he buys them for me often and he hardly ever gets to see me in them.  Can my session be more or less a undies modeling shoot?" The answer to your question is YES! I often have women that email me and say that they don't own any lingerie but that they would really like to do a boudoir photo shoot. First of all you should probably stop by Victoria's Secret and look around for some lingerie that you like because I feel like every woman deserves to feel beautiful wearing lingerie. Second, if you don't want to buy anything new we do have lingerie available at the studio that you can wear. Finally, the most important thing to bring to a boudoir photo shoot is several pairs of panties: black, white, and red or pink. So, for this weeks WHAT TO WEAR WEDNESDAY I'm featuring a just panties look wrapped up in white sheets. This is one of the most classic and timeless boudoir looks. This is one of the most requested shots and we encourage every clients to do a "just sheets" look for their session.

White is perfect for a bridal boudoir session or if you want some images that are soft and romantic to contrast against dark, edgy, and moody images in a black outfit.

For today's What to Wear Wednesday I'm featuring an emerald green teddy. Now, black is the most popular lingerie color but if your looking to add some color to your shoot then choose a dark emerald/teal color to compliment a burgundy lip.
