BEFORE THE WEDDING

Occupations: Sydney : 2nd grade school teacher

Troy: Student

How the couple met:

Troy and I grew up in the same town. We went to school together since elementary. We knew of each other and had mutual friends but never dated. It wasn't until 5 years after graduating high school we met again at a mutual friend's party and hit it off right away. We started dating soon after that.

How he proposed:

I am a second grade teacher and Troy proposed on the last day of school. I was not expecting it at all. I had a fellow teacher come into my room near the end of the school day and say that my class had planned something special for me for the last day of school. She said to come into her classroom and wait while they got it set up. In my head I was thinking, how nice it was for them to plan this! I was trying to figure out what parents set it up. Then finally she told me they were ready and I went back into my classroom. All of my students were in a line holding a piece of paper with a letter on it. It spelled out, 'Miss Coleman will you marry me?' At the end of the line there was Troy holding a bouquet of roses! I was so surprised!! He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He says, I said yes three times! It was the best day! WEDDING

Salt Lake Engagement Photographer - Krisina + Merek

January 6th, 2011

I love shooting engagement pictures in the snow! We went up Little Cottonwood Canyon and there was about 3 feet of snow. It was a fun adventure climbing into the woods with that much snow. Krisina took my advice and wore a bright red coat for the photo shoot. When shooting in the winter there is mostly white and brown so it's great to wear something colorful. They also brought some adorable hats and I brought a quilt so we could do some pictures sitting. These two are having their wedding on June 11, 2011 at The Johnson Mill. I'll be there to capture the entire event. :)

Salt Lake City Wedding Photographer - Jennie + Aaron

December 28th, 2010

Jennie + Aaron
August 28, 2010
Willow Creek Country Club

BEFORE THE WEDDING

Occupations:LOAN OFFICER; EXCAVATING

How the couple met: We knew each other from grade school up thru high school, and had developed a good friendship. After high school we lost touch both went our separate ways for about 4 years. Then one day, my sister called me and said that I would never guess who she had ran into. It was Aaron, and he happened to be friends with her boyfriend, so she said her and her boyfriend were going to a movie that afternoon and would I like to come, as Aaron was interested in catching up, and so was I. We just picked up where we left off in high school.......and so, here we are now, Happily married.

How he proposed:It was Valentine's Day morning, 2006. Aaron was up early, made coffee and asked if I would like to come have coffee with him. (He was acting like a kid waiting to open their presents on Christmas morning) It was so cute. Then he just handed me this box from Shane Co. I had no idea what he was getting at. I opened the box and then he asked me "Will you marry me" I said, "YES", of course.

Bridal shower/Bachelorette party: We had our party a week before the Bachelor party. We reserved some rooms at the Red Lion hotel so that we would not have to drive after partying. We went to the Sky bar that night, after I had been decorated with all of my Bachelorette gear that the girls had picked up. It was a blast.

Bachelor party: The guys got a limo and went out on the town. They ended up at the Sky Bar. The funniest thing was, they were talking to the manager and they told them that they should have come the week before, as there were a bunch of crazy chics there the weekend before, and Aaron said, I know, that was my fiancé and her friends.WEDDING

Ceremony Place:Willow Creek Country Club

Date:8/28/2010 5:30 pm - beautiful time of day @ WCCC

The bride wore: Off white wedding dress from Frenze Bridal - with hand sewn Swarovski crystals - it was beautiful - much prettier than sequins

The groom wore: Long coat 4 button tuxedo from Mens Warehouse; hot pink vest & TieRECEPTION

Reception Place:Willow Creek Country Club 7-9:30pm

Wedding music: We just chose to have fun party/club like music. It turned out so fun, and everybody had a blast

Wedding song: Remember When - by Alan Jackson - our first dance; You are so Beautiful- by Ray Charles- Daddy,Daughter dance; for the processional; we chose a song written by Josh Groban - Instrumental only version of "You are Loved" We just looped it for the wedding party and then paused it for a second when out officiant asked everyone to rise, and then resumed. It worked perfectly.

Menu: Fresh fruit with imported cheese display; Fresh Vegetable Crudites with dip; Chicken Satay with Thai peanut sauce; Cheese stuffed mushrooms; Chef carved Honey Baked Pit Ham with Silver dollar rolls; Spanikopita.

Cake: 3 layers, each a different flavor: White cake with Raspberry filling; Lemon poppy-seed cake with Raspberry filling; Chocolate Amaretto cake with Raspberry filling. Frosting was white chocolate gnash.

Colors: Hot pink (watermelon); baby pink; sage green; black; silver

Flowers: Shades of pink: roses, spray roses, calla lilies, gerber dailies done by Sunshine Creations

Décor elements: Accents Plus did all of the decorating, she works exclusively with Willow Creek, and she rocks! Janet Reynolds: 801-842-1489

Unique details: We took dance lessons, and it turned out perfect. We are so glad that we did. MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT

Bride's answer: Walking down the waterfall stairs with my Dad and seeing the looks on Aaron's and everybody's faces; and our first dance

Groom's answer: When Jennie was walking down with her Dad, she was so beautiful. Our Children were so cute walking down the isle too; our Daughter (11) was a Jr Bridesmaid, Our son, Ryan was a Jr Groomsman, and our son, Logan, was HONEYMOON

Place: Antigua - Sandals Grande

A memorable moment of the honeymoon: TBD ;-) We are going April 2011, as it is rainy there right now.

WEDDING ADVICE: Higher a wedding coordinator. If you can't afford the whole gauntlet with one, then just higher one for the day of the wedding. I am so glad that I did, and he took all of the stresses away from me worrying about the next step. It was soooooooooo worth it. And, higher a DJ, I have seen so many weddings where an ipod with a playlist was used, and it turned out to be so stressful for the bride and groom. And last but not least, choose a professional photographer. Do not even consider having a family friend who likes to take pics, you will be so disappointed. Opie is the best, and I would definitely recommend choosing her. She was and has been so professional. Everybody that I show my pics to, rant and rave about how awesome they are. Her prices are also very affordable.

VENDORS

Rings: Shane Co

Invitations: item #: S1999HP from New and Blue Enterprises - online. We also got a brass stamp with our initials, and wax to seal the inner envelopes (we chose the wax sticks, they worked awesome) - Nostalgic Impressions- they are also an online company.

Rehearsal dinner: We rehearsed at Willow Creek, and then went to my Dad and Mom's house for dinner

Guest book: We got a custom photobook from Costco.com and used fine point Sharpie's with Flower's tied to them with florist tape, for signing, in our wedding colors. It was a hit, and so memorable for us.

Wedding favors: We bought little 2"x2" gift boxes with black and white covers from Hobby Lobby and filled them with assorted flavors of tiny gumballs and 1 tube of custom label chap stick (www.mapleleafpromotions.com)- it is all natural. We used gumballs, because of the heat, we didn't want the candy to melt, and that was the only thing I could find that wouldn't melt, that I also liked. We tied ribbons, in our wedding colors, around them so they looked like mini gifts. They were a hit.

Utah Wedding Photographer - Rachel + Matt

December 1st, 2010

A note: I've been putting off posting this wedding on the blog because I get a little emotional thinking about sharing these pictures. This is my little sister's wedding that happened back in August. A very special thank you to Heather at Heather Nan Photography for shooting this wedding with me. If it wasn't for Heather we wouldn't have any group pictures and I would have completely lost my mind. The picture below is of my sister and I when we took a cruise together back in May. At that time she wasn't engaged. Rachel and Matt announced their engagement 6 weeks before the wedding. Gasp! They had only 6 weeks to plan. Then Rachel told me she decided to do her own flower arrangements minus the walking flowers. I volunteered to help do the flowers at my house. Two days before the wedding boxes and boxes of whole sale flowers arrived at my house. Rachel and I spent 2 days strait on our feet putting together flower arrangements in the TV room downstairs. This is something I wouldn't wish on any bride or family member. We were very tired! I honestly took on more then I should have for my sister's wedding. The day of the wedding I had to deliver the flowers, help set up, photograph the wedding, and wear a nice dress and be in the photos. If Heather wasn't there to help out with covering the wedding I would have killed over right after the ceremony.

Rachel I love you and I'm so happy you found Matt.

Salt Lake Wedding Album - Alexis + Adam

Today I wanted to feature Alexis and Adam's stunning wedding album. Alexis decided to go with a chocolate coppery leather and a cursive font. Simple, clean, and classic. I always get really excited when a wedding album arrives at the studio because it's the final result of all that hard work of shooting, editing, designing, and retouching. It's so hard to give them over to the brides because I secretly wish I could keep all of the albums for my own enjoyment.

Utah Wedding Photography - Lynn + Jarom

November 1st, 2010

Lynn + Jarom
August 12, 2010
Timpanogos Temple

BEFORE THE WEDDING

Occupations:

We were both students. Lynn was going to BYU, Jarom was attending UVU.

How the couple met:
We had known each other in high school, but not very well. We had seen each other in the hallways, but never spoke. Four years after I graduated high school, I got back from a study abroad to find that my best friend was dating Jarom's best friend. We all hung out together a lot, but Jarom and I never really hung out alone. One night Jarom threw a show for his friend Sean who was in the band Forest World. After the show, we finally got to spend some time alone with each other. It was the first time we had ever hung out, just the two of us, but it was also the night of our first kiss! We knew we liked each other and didn't bother to beat around the bush!

How he proposed:
We knew we wanted to get married before Jarom officially proposed. We had actually spent the whole day looking at wedding dresses for me the night he proposed. We got back late at night and I was super tired, but Jarom insisted we go on a walk. Reluctantly I agreed. We walked over to the spot of our first kiss, he gave me a hug, and dropped on his knee. At first I thought he was joking, but when he pulled out a ring, I knew it was the real deal.

Bridal shower/Bachelorette party:
I had a bridal shower that my aunt threw me, and a more naughty bachelorette thrown by some old work friends. ;)

Bachelor party:
Nothing official, the night before the wedding his friends took him out for Burgers Supreme.

WEDDING

Ceremony Place:
Timpanogos Temple.

Date:
August 12, 2010

The bride wore:
Custom dress by Jessica May Bridal. It was beautiful and fit me perfectly!

The groom wore:
H&M grey two button suit.

RECEPTION

Reception Place:
Southworth Hall in Provo

Wedding music:
Ipod playlist and the band Forest World!

Menu:
A work of labor by friends and family. Everyone chipped in and brought a little dessert or a yummy dip.

Cake:
An old spice cake recipe from Jarom's grandma. Jarom's mom made and frosted it herself. It was delicious and looked so amazing!

Colors:
Pumpkin orange, wasabi green, and dark plum accents.

Theme:
DIY, relaxed, and rocking! We wanted our reception to feel like a gathering of close friends and family, rather than a traditional reception with a huge cake and ill-fitting rented tuxes.

Flowers:
We bought them wholesale from Red Mountain Floral in Provo. I had a bridesmaid who was very skilled in floral design arrange everything from the bridal bouquet to boutonnieres and centerpieces!

Décor elements:
Antique bottles from a private collection filled with wildflowers, large jars full of oranges and granny smith apples. We hung orange and green paper lanterns from the ceiling in various sizes at various lengths. We also had a DIY photobooth made from an old duvet cover and a camera on a tripod. Everything was thrown together, but it looked fabulous.

Unique details:
We did mostly everything ourselves. We didn't hire a caterer, a wedding planner, or anyone to help us with the reception. All of our friends and family pulled together and helped out. It was a little hectic, but it was amazing to see everyone help out and pitch in for our special day. We also saved a bunch of money!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT

Bride's answer:
The day went by so quickly it's hard to tell. Probably sitting in the temple with Jarom, it was the only peaceful moment of the day. We held hands quietly and rested our heads on each other's shoulders before the sealing.

Groom's answer:
Ditto to the above. :) Also, the amount of people that showed up for the reception. A lot more than we expected!

HONEYMOON

Place: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

A memorable moment of the honeymoon:
All you can eat food and room service 24 hours a day! And all the free drinks you wanted! We had our fair share of virgin margaritas and piña colodas!.

WEDDING ADVICE
Just relax! Since we did everything ourselves, it felt like we had a huge workload. The day of the wedding we were running around getting the reception hall set up and decorated, as well as bringing in our own food and refreshments. In retrospect, I probably would have hired a caterer, it would have been worth the extra money to be able to see my family and friends relax. But, everyone who helped said that it was enjoyable and that the whole day was a success! Even when a group of salsa dancers showed up an hour into our reception because of a scheduling miscommunication with the venue. :P
